As a young kid I was already a very visual person and fascinated by art, cultural heritage and nature. But I also wanted to discover the world and in my childhood my parents took me all over Europe to many interesting places.
My first visit in Africa was a kind of revelation and I fel in love with its wild animals. To travel in this continent became an addiction!
To see breathtaking places elsewhere in the world, meeting different people and experiencing other cultures enriched my life in a very special way! I feel privileged seeing so many countries.
Beside my work as a pastel artist with some exhibitions in the past I became over the years more focused on photography. Eventually I studied in the nineties at the Photo Academy in Amsterdam.
In 2009 I traveled for almost two months in rural Rajasthan where I worked on a project on Rajasthani women. I was deeply touched by their strong spirit.
Currently I am working on a project in New York City and also on a series of portraits from classical musicians, in particular of concert pianists. Classical music is an import part of my life and it becomes more and more! Both my mother and grandmother were pianists and there was always music in my parental home. There were many music students, regular house concerts, listening LP's.....sometimes too much when I came home from school and I had to do my homework. But in my childhood my parents gave me the most pleasure when they took me to a concert in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam......these feelings for beautiful music will always remain and I can't without it!
I rarely work on commissions and prefer the freedom which enables me to photograph the subjects that catches my eyes.
All the animals are photographed in their original habitat. There are no images of animals in captivity.
My wildlife pictures are represented by a South African Agency
